We've all seen these stupid blankets with arms. Advertised on late night TV...and I just saw 5 people at Wal-Mart buying them. Somebody somewhere is getting rich on this idea. WTF. I'm planning to market "bed comforters with arm holes" as part of my "get rich quick scheme"--unless the Snuggie Corporation already has a patent on this of course. I'm afraid to say the Snuggie is probably gonna go down in history with the "Post-It" note, pet rock, and "Jump to Conclusions" mat.
I went on a Snuggie pub crawl the other weekend. Seemed like a ridiculous thing to do and a great way to mock the product.

Route 66 Marathon (Tulsa, OK)
With our sights set on the Route 66 Marathon--but otherwise not knowing exactly what to expect, JT, Lauren, Katie, and I departed to Tulsa, OK. I flew out/back while the others road-tripped it the whole way. I rolled in Friday evening and the others made it Saturday just after noon. Epic weekend full of bar-hopping, hashing, and of course the marathon. I pulled off a ~3:38:00--not nearly as well as I had hoped! However, I am happy to report that I managed to take 10th place in the fat-ass Clydesdale division! ;) The marathon route was surprising nice--with a long out-and-back along the Arkansas River:
Tulsa is full of many cool hangouts and lots of interesting people! We made it a point to drink a PBR in the "Center of the Universe" near the downtown area. Props to the Tulsa H3 for a great hash following the marathon on Sunday! Wrapped up the trip with a stop at Tally's Route 66 "Good Food" Cafe on the historic Route 66 highway:

Training resumes
I've let this blog go silent since about March of this year. I started picking up the distance again with the Denver Marathon last October 18. Without any real distance training, I was able to pull off a PR at ~3:33:00.
Next marathon is coming up on November 22: The Route 66 Marathon...
Tulsa or bust!
Already looking forward to:

Gorilla power
I was happy to participate in the 2009 Denver Gorilla Run on Halloween this year: a benefit for the Mountain Gorilla Conservation Fund.

In addition to looking simply ridiculous while running around the Lodo area, we managed to set a new Guinness World Record for the "Most People Dressed as Gorillas" at 1061. Previous record was ~640.
Ooo ooo haa haa! :D
